Classes and workshops for students are held throughout the year at the O’Reilly Theater, the home of Pittsburgh Public Theater, located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. Summer 2017 Youth Classes

Our popular summer youth classes run Monday-Friday from 10 AM – 3 PM unless otherwise noted. Limited financial aid is available. Space is limited!

(Grades 9-12)

$275 fee • July 31 - August 4, 2017 

This one week AUDITION INTENSIVE taught by Amy Landis will focus on the audition process. Students will learn how to prepare a monologue portfolio for college drama school entrance auditions as well as single auditions for a specific production. Though this course is geared toward the serious high school drama student, any interested high school actor is encouraged to join for working on audition and acting skills, space allowing.

Acting Workshop: ACT OUT (Grades 4-8)

$275 fee • July 24 - 28, 2017 • Monday - Friday: 10 AM - 1 PM

How does an actor make it real? How do you make the audience believe in you? Students are guided through an exploration of the basic skills of acting that address these questions. In-class exercises in improvisation, character development, and movement. Taught by Sarah Carleton.

Acting Workshop: SHAKESPEARE INTENSIVE (Grades 9-12)

$400 fee • July 10 - 28, 2017 

Students approach Shakespeare from an actor’s perspective, using the text and verse to aid in character development. This class taught by Amy Landis culminates in an actual performance of one of William Shakespeare’s works to be held July 28th at 7 PM. Experienced and new actors are welcome. Enrollment is limited to a company of 20 actors.

Acting Workshop: IMPROVISATION (Grades 9-12)

$275 fee
July 31 - August 4, 2017

Students will play theater games and explore a challenging variety of improvisational exercises that will help to unleash their natural creativity and humor. Any level of experience is welcome.
