Ushers & Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Public! We are greatly appreciative of the many people who provide assistance by volunteering their time. Some of The Public's departments that utilize volunteers are special events, administrative offices and education (typically student volunteers who gain training through their volunteer time).
If you would like information about volunteer opportunities at The Public, please email Jessica D’Arcy or reach her by phone at 412.316.8200 x716.

Volunteer Usher Program
Becoming a volunteer usher is a great way to help support The Public and, in return, get a chance to see all six productions of the season for free. We depend on our volunteers at each performance to ensure that our patrons have a great experience from the moment they enter the theater until curtain call.
Ushers must attend each production once, according to their assigned schedules. Ushers report to The O'Reilly Theater one hour before curtain on their scheduled dates and sign in with House Management. Once signed in, ushers must conduct themselves appropriately and be dressed suitably for the theater before assisting with seating patrons.
To learn more about the program, policies and perks, our Volunteer Usher Guidelines are available here.
If you would like to join the volunteer usher program, please email House Manager, Trent Wolfred.
Share your passion for the theater and support The Public. Public Ambassadors volunteer to help encourage their peers to become subscribers, purchase tickets, and contribute — either through individual or corporate support.
Along with the sense of goodwill you'll feel knowing that you've become an important part of The Public's community relations and fund raising efforts, Public Ambassadors also receive complimentary tickets and exclusive invitations to Pittsburgh Public Theater productions and events.
It's easy and fun! Email Katie Conaway, Group Sales & Audience Development Manager, to become an Ambassador for The Public.
