Ushers & Volunteers
Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Public! We are greatly appreciative of the many people who provide assistance by volunteering their time. Some of The Public's departments that utilize volunteers are special events, administrative offices and education (typically student volunteers who gain training through their volunteer time).
For information about volunteering at The Public (not including volunteer ushers), contact Leah Briner at 412.316.8200, ext. 716.
For Ushers
Ushering for The Public is a mutually beneficial trade: Ushers give about one hour of work per performance and, in turn, The Public provides ushers with an opportunity to view a performance for free. By agreeing to join the volunteer program, ushers commit themselves to a minimum of one performance per production, a total of six performances per season.
Please note: At this time we are not in need of additional volunteer ushers.
Usher Policies
Ushers are volunteer members of the Front of House Staff. After all patrons — including walk-in and standing room only patrons — are seated, ushers are welcome to occupy any available seat in their assigned section designated by House Management.
Learn more about our Volunteer Usher Guidelines, including information about the usher dress code, duties, policies, minimum time commitment, schedule conflict and buying extra tickets.
For more information or questions about volunteer ushers, please send an email to Trent Wolfred or Laura Greenawalt or call them at 412.316.8200, ext. 730. From June to August, contact Kristin Garbarino at 412.316.8200, ext. 725.
