Open Stage Student Matinees
"Students loved the exercises — i.e., the ones that allow them to ‘take off their masks.' Students had the opportunity to work with experts in their craft, participate in activities that beginning actors do, and work as a team. We thoroughly enjoyed this collaboration!"
- Teacher, Dilworth Elementary School
For each age-appropriate production, The Public offers student matinees for middle school, high school, and college students. All Open Stage Student Matinee tickets are $15.00 (plus an additional $.50 district fee).Teachers and students may access study guides and Pennsylvania Academic Standards that correspond to each of the shows. Students take part in post-show discussions with the cast and may participate in follow-up classroom visits. Through The Public's efforts, many youth gain their very first exposure to professional theater.
"I have never seen a play or show besides in high school so thank you for letting me experience that." - Student, Wilkinsburg High School
